Before Amanda Hakes started writing stories about mothers and their children, she spent 5 years doing infield research. Now, her Irish Folktale retelling Enda is published in the Of Fae and Fate anthology. She loves making hot cocoa, show tunes, gardening, and playing delightfully nerdy games with her husband. Amanda lives in Utah where she is teacher, tender, and taskmaster to her three young children.
Some of her favorite stories are
The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden
Where the Watermelons Grow by Cindy Baldwin
The Keeper of Lost Things by Ruth Hogan
Circe by Madeline Miller
Amanda is interested in books with deeply developed characters and thoughtful plots and high stakes. She loves Young Adult and Adult fantasy, fantasy, contemporary, historical fiction and proper romances. She is especially interested in stories rich in folklore and culture.
